The joy of doing what I do is cruising the pubs and live venues trying to see as many live bands humanly possible. Watching a ton of bands trying to leave their mark on society, trying to make it in a world that will eat you alive if you show weakness and fail to hold the attention of the music sponges that stand before you. And most nights this music sponge goes home and rings out what's been absorbed, what's taking up valuable space in the music mind , never to be thought of again. Arkadia was not one of those bands. Alternative Nu-metal with a punch.
This Kent based band certainly know how to entertain their ever growing fan base. Giving their own twist on a genre that is saturated with the same old boring style thats been done to death.
Vocalist Lewis Monticelli has an amazing range that is easily swapped effortlessly between good clean vocals and a very menacing growl ( I honestly didn't expect to come out of that face). He is energetic and defiantly belongs up front. As a young band they will grow and no doubt so will his confidence giving him the edge needed to not just be good but rip the stage apart. Don't hold back .
He is backed by 3 very talented band members. Jack Gibson on bass, Adam "Bach" El-Makbachi on guitar and Tommy Ru on drums. What i liked was the energy these guys give off, they play to the crowd well, not just robotic statues giving Lewis a backing track. Hey , when a drummer hands you a set of blood soaked sticks after the gig , you know he's put in the effort.
With the release of their first EP on the horizon Arkadia are out to leave their mark on the industry and become yet another "going places " Kent based band. Another that will be added to my list of gotta see them again. See you in the pit .
